Major

Engineering Technology, B.S.

LeTourneau University is the only member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities with a B.S. Engineering Technology degree accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET.

Degree

LETU's engineering technology program offers practical application, coupled with a strong theoretical base. The program prepares students for positions in industry, sales, management, and service in a variety of technical areas.

WHAT IS ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY?

Engineering Technology is that part of the technological field that requires the application of scientific knowledge, engineering knowledge and methods, combined with the technical skills to achieve analysis and design objectives.

  • Our Engineering Technology degree is similar to our Engineering degree, but emphasizes more application of theory and less development of theory than Engineering. As a result, Engineering Technology students spend less time on mathematical derivations and more time on application of existing theory.
  • Students spend a considerable time in a laboratory environment being taught by faculty with industrial experience.

The Engineering Technology Program of LeTourneau University will produce graduates that are able to integrate technical knowledge with practical application.

CONCENTRATION OPTIONS

Students earning a degree in engineering technology choose one of the following concentrations, adding specialized experience to their B.S. in Engineering Technology degree.

HOW DO I PREPARE?

The program is designed to be completed in a four year period by students who have already completed the following list of courses. However, if you haven't taken all of these courses by the time you graduate high school, you may make up the necessary courses during your freshman year at LETU.

  • Four years of high school English
  • Two years of algebra
  • One year of geometry
  • One semester of trigonometry
  • One year of science (chemistry or physics)

Both physics and chemistry are desired. Students who transfer from another college or university should understand that there are sequences of courses in the curriculum, up to six semesters in length, which build on one another.

ACCREDITATION
