SCHEDULE: Part-time position up to 29 hours per week.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:

DESCRIPTION:    The part-time skills and simulation nursing lab coordinator will engage with nursing students and faculty in the on-campus simulation lab.  Lab coordinator responsibilities may require working evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.  Flexibility is absolutely necessary.

Specific responsibilities include, but may not be limited to the following:

  1. Order and maintain supplies necessary for the lab.
  2. Maintain equipment and space in the lab area.
  3. Provide supervision for student practice sessions and assist with remediation.
  4. Coordinate lab schedules with faculty.
  5. Prep lab for scheduled skills and simulation activities.
  6. Assist with lab activities for preview and high school health science student groups and student recruitment visits.
  7. Serve as an assistant for faculty teaching in the lab.

Experience working with students in clinical settings, skills lab or simulation is preferred.  The nursing lab coordinator will not be mandated to sit on School of Nursing or university committees; however, they may be asked to provide information to these committees with regard to their responsibilities and possible enhancements to the lab experiences.  The lab coordinator will also work with the faculty of record in the course to ensure appropriate evaluation of the student.  If problems are identified with a specific student or experience, the lab coordinator will work with the faculty to identify the problem and establish possible solutions and intervene to solve problems.  The lab coordinator is to uphold the mission and vision of LeTourneau University and the School of Nursing and to represent the school accordingly.

The nursing lab coordinator will attend an orientation with faculty and/or the Dean of Nursing.  The lab coordinator will meet with the faculty at the beginning of each semester for orientation to course expectations, policies, and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Qualified applicants must hold a minimum of a BSN and work toward the MSN/PhD/DNP is preferred.  Applicants must have a minimum of 2 years nursing clinical experience in acute care nursing areas.

 Other qualifications include:

  1. An enthusiastic Christian faith with a commitment to Christian higher education that integrates Christian faith and learning.
  2. Licensed as a RN in Texas (or eligible for licensure in Texas).
  3. Demonstrated competence in nursing practice/skills.
  4. Willing to participate in the orientation process.
  5. Available to work schedules which may not be within the traditional teaching timeframes (i.e. evening, nights, weekends).
  6. Ability to relate to and communicate effectively with students and faculty.
  7. Ability to organize and maintain lab equipment and supplies within the space of the lab.
  8. Organizational skills for coordinating with multiple class schedules and individual student practice.
  9. Proficient in the use of simulation equipment is preferred, however, if the candidate has not had simulation training, he/she must be willing to complete training.
