POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Part-time faculty with a minimum of a MSN may be identified and engaged, as needed, to provide supplemental clinical supervision of students or classroom instruction. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Qualifications and Selection of Part-Time Faculty

  1. Licensed as a RN.
  2. MSN with recent clinical experience if for a clinical assignment.
  3. Demonstrated competence in nursing and in educational strategies.
  4. Willing to accept an assignment to provide clinical supervision or classroom instruction under the oversight of a full time faculty.
  5. Willing to participate in the orientation and training for part-time faculty.
  6. Willing to work schedules which may not be within the traditional teaching timeframes (i.e. evening, nights, weekends).
  7. The specific need by clinical area and expertise is identified by the course faculty.

Responsibilities of Part-Time Faculty to School and University

Part-time faculty will not be mandated to sit on School of Nursing or university committees; however, they may be asked to provide information to these committees with regard to their responsibilities and possible enhancements to the courses/clinical experiences.  Part-time faculty will participate in the evaluation of clinical facilities/experiences.  They will also be responsible for working with the faculty of record in the course to ensure appropriate evaluation of the student.  If problems are identified with a specific student or experience, it will the responsibility of the part-time faculty member identifying the problem to work with the faculty of record and the dean to establish possible solutions and intervene to solve problems.  An additional responsibility of the part-time faculty is to uphold the mission and vision of LeTourneau University and the School of Nursing and to represent the school accordingly.
