LeTourneau University President Dr. Dale A. Lunsford announced the university’s new vision on August 18, 2008, in his annual State of the University Address to faculty and staff.
Lunsford unveiled a new theme with global implications: “Answering the Call: Every Workplace in Every Nation.” The theme reflects that LETU graduates are called to answer Jesus’ Great Commission to go into the world and make disciples by sharing the Gospel of Christ as professionals from a variety of educational disciplines.
The university’s new vision statement reads, “Claiming every workplace in every nation as our mission field, LeTourneau University graduates are professionals of ingenuity and Christ-like character who see life’s work as a holy calling with eternal impact.”
Lunsford said the university has a legacy of uniquely equipping its graduates to be involved in the workplace, harkening back to the founding of the school when R.G. LeTourneau was told that God needed businessmen as well as preachers.
Lunsford also said the university would join where God was already at work, and cited the LEGS program as an example of seeking a global solution to a problem through the ingenuity and heart of faculty and students.
