LETU E-Week Banquet Feb. 20 to Feature Engineering Expert Dr. Steve Starrett

In celebration of National Engineers Week Feb. 18-24, LeTourneau University will host about 70 local professional engineers and about 70 engineering students and faculty from area high schools and colleges for an E-Week banquet. The banquet will begin at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, in the university's Allen Family Student Center, featuring keynote speaker LETU Dean of Engineering Dr. Steve Starrett.

Tours of LETU engineering facilities will be provided from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. Cost to attend is $15 for engineers and their guests who pre-register through their local professional society. Students and faculty may attend free of charge by registering through their schools.

Starrett, a renowned expert who speaks worldwide on the topic of engineering ethics, has recently released a new book on the subject. He is the outgoing president of the 26,000-member Environmental and Water Resources Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

E-Week is a national event celebrating the engineering profession and giving students hands-on experience with engineering. The E-Week banquet has been held in the East Texas area since 1960, and the E-Week group provides scholarships to area students planning to pursue degrees in engineering.
