Missionary in Residence

Phil and Mari Manning are serving as LeTourneau University’s Missionaries in Residence for 2012-2013 while on home service assignment with Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF).  The Mannings have been serving for 25 years with MAF.

The Mannings started their overseas service with MAF in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in 1990.After evacuating from DRC in 1991, they served 8 years in Mali followed by 6 years in Mauritania. Phil most recently served as a counselor and teacher and Mari as the business manager at Rift Valley Academy, a large missionary children’s boarding school in Kenya.

Phil and Mari both earned their bachelor’s degrees from Moody Bible Institute. Phil earned a Master of Science degree in marriage and family counseling from Northwest Nazarene University and is a Licensed Professional Counselor.

The Mannings will celebrate 25 years of marriage this year.  They have three children, Paul, serving in the Air Force, Mark, a freshman at LeTourneau, and Anna, who is in fifth grade.

The Missionary-in-Residence program is designed to actively involve a missionary on home assignment in the academic and student affairs programs of the university. The MiR teaches courses relating to contemporary world missions and cross-cultural adaptation and communication, and is also actively involved in student life, including the coordination of missions emphasis week.
