LeTourneau University will host the 15th annual Texas Association for the Improvement of Reading (TAIR) conference for East Texas educators and homeschoolers from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, in the Education Building on the LETU campus, 2100 S. Mobberly Avenue. Pre-registration is currently under way, however those who are not pre-registered can register at 8 a.m. that day.
This year’s conference focuses on sharing strategies for ELL/ESL learners, literacy strategies to bring to the classroom immediately, and an emphasis on interactive literacy instructions and techno-literacy. A session related to children on the autistic spectrum and how to best help them succeed with literacy learning is planned. Usborne books will conduct a book fair throughout the day.
The Story Lady will make an appearance and offer a unique and exciting approach to sharing stories in the classroom.
Registration is $35 per person. School districts sending 10 or more teachers from the same district earn a discounted rate of $30 each. Registration includes lunch, morning refreshments and drawings for door prizes.
TAIR provides literacy educators with the opportunity to interact with outstanding professionals as they become acquainted with current research, methods and materials and to share successful instructional strategies.
