LeTourneau University has named Leslie Bowman as the new director of the Margaret Estes Library and Learning Resources Center. Bowman holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Indiana University, a certificate of advanced study in education from St. Thomas Aquinas College and a Master of Education in instructional technology from Virginia’s George Mason University. She is currently completing her Master of Library Science degree from Southern Connecticut State University. Bowman served as the supervisor of Instructional Support and Development for one of Northern Virginia Community College’s six campuses in Alexandria, VA, where she managed educational technology procurement and training for 150 full-time and 400 adjunct faculty instructing 17,000 students annually. She previously served as a library media technology specialist for a Vermont public school system where she trained students, faculty and staff in information literacy and educational technology. Bowman also has extensive experience as a fourth grade and sixth grade teacher in Virginia’s Fairfax County Public Schools. Bowman has organized teaching workshops, presented at education conferences and offered training in collaborative learning techniques, project-based instruction, SMART Boards, student response systems, Microsoft Office products, and iPads. She and her husband, LETU’s new dean of the School of Business Dr. Bruce A. Bowman, have two grown sons and have relocated from Alexandria, VA.
