For the first time ever, LeTourneau University will be the Texas-based host of the prestigious Worldview Academy, a week-long leadership camp held at locations all across the nation for high school students for ages 13-18. Online registration is open at the Worldview Academy website www.worldview.org or by calling (800) 241-1123 for the camp at LETU which is scheduled from Sunday through Friday, June 24-29.
Worldview Academy’s gifted faculty help students engage with the truth of Scripture, applying it to every aspect of their life and making the pursuit of truth a challenging adventure. Topics during the 26 hours of classroom instruction include servant leadership, top ten biggest decisions and the Christian worldview. Additionally, there are practicums focused on evangelism and leadership. Outside the instruction time, each student participates in a small group lead by a trained college staff member. There students process the day’s activities through their discussion and feedback.
“Our president, Dr. Lunsford, encouraged me to pursue the opportunity to host Worldview Academy on the LETU campus several years ago,” said Linda H. Fitzhugh, who has recently transitioned into a role as a community relations officer from her previous responsibilities as chief enrollment officer. “We are very excited to host Worldview Academy on our campus because it provides young people with a solid foundation of Scripture that reinforces their own understanding of their Christian faith, especially at a time when they are being slammed from all sides with divergent philosophies.
“High school students who will attend the leadership academy are going to come away with a strengthened ability to live out their faith in new and bold ways,” Fitzhugh said. “Students I’ve known who have attended the academy typically describe it as the best week of their lives. These students also are great prospective students for LeTourneau University.”
