LETU Fall Classes Begin Aug. 28 for Back to School

LeTourneau University will begin classes for new and returning students for the fall 2012 semester on Tuesday, Aug. 28. New student registration and check-in to residence halls will be Thursday, Aug. 23. New student orientation and testing sessions will be from Thursday, Aug. 23, through Monday, Aug. 27. Returning students can check into their residence halls Sunday, Aug. 26. Registration for classes for returning students is Monday, Aug. 27.

The last day to register or change registration is Monday, Sept. 3. LeTourneau University will hold classes on Labor Day.

LETU has added several academic degree offerings that launch this fall, including undergraduate degrees in communications focusing on integrated media management, sports communication, forensic chemistry, health information systems, international studies and several new mathematics concentrations. A new graduate degree, the Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy, also launches this fall.

New faculty members for 2012-2013 include Dr. Frederick Baliraine, assistant professor of biology; Dr. Benjamin W. Caldwell, assistant professor of mechanical engineering; Dr. Jonathan A. Demko, assistant professor of mechanical engineering; Dr. Vivian E. Fernand, assistant professor of chemistry; Dr. Edward L. Hamilton, assistant professor of physics; Dr. Darryl D. Low, assistant professor of civil engineering; and Dr. Melanie G. Watson, visiting assistant professor of mechanical engineering.  LETU also welcomes Misti Harriss, visiting instructor of marketing; Melissa Watson, assistant professor of library science and head librarian; and Phillip S. Manning as its missionary-in-residence.
