LeTourneau University will dedicate and host an Open House of its newly renovated Materials Joining/Welding Engineering lab from 8 to 8:45 a.m. Friday, Nov. 4, with tours given by students who will also perform demonstrations in 20 minutes intervals from 8:15 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Demonstrations will include robotic-, laser-, atomic hydrogen-, friction stir-, stud- and Gas tungsten arc welding with detailed engineering explanations given on ongoing research and development projects that are being done by students and faculty.
“LeTourneau University has just completed $1.15 million in renovations that make this the largest, stand-alone lab of its type in the entire country,” said LETU Dean of Engineering Dr. Ronald DeLap. “We are blessed to have the equipment and facilities, as well as the corporate partnerships, that make us one of the premier welding and materials joining programs in the country.”
High school students, career counselors and members of the community interested in this unique engineering discipline are invited to attend.
