LeTourneau University President Dr. Dale A. Lunsford was elected to the Board of Directors of Texas Bank and Trust at its annual stockholders’ meeting held on February 8, according to an announcement made by Bank Chairman Rogers Pope.
Dr. Lunsford, the sixth president of LeTourneau University, joined LeTourneau in July 2007. Under his leadership, the university embarked on a campaign to provide a new home for the School of Aeronautical Science at the East Texas Regional Airport and construct The Corner Café, a new dining facility on campus. Both renovations were completed in 2009. Major improvements in existing residency halls have been completed and LETU’s newest and largest residence hall will open in Fall 2011.
Dr. Lunsford has expanded LETU’s relationship with Handong Global University in South Korea, and he was invited by the U.S. State Department to participate in the first ever “Higher Education Summit for Global Development” in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Lunsford is currently chair elect of the Longview Chamber of Commerce and has served recently on the board of directors for the Independent Colleges and Universities of Texas. Prior to his tenure at LETU, he served in academic and administrative roles at The University of Texas, The University of Tulsa, and Oklahoma State University. He earned two degrees from The University of Tulsa, and in 1989 received a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Oklahoma State University.
