It reviews public data and produces independent ranking assessments in a variety of disciplines. Based out of San Antonio, Texas, The Best Colleges specializes in both traditional and online degree program rankings. Their website reports that due to the vast quality disparity between online education programs, they have “committed to highlighting regionally accredited online programs that display the highest standards of quality, credibility, and value.”
The website reports that its rankings are “based on institutional reputation, acceptance rates, retention rates, graduation rates, student-faculty ratios, cost and other publicly available data.” The website noted LETU’s small class sizes and dual-track option to the Master of Arts in Counseling degree, which is a 45-60 credit hour program designed to prepare working students to become a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and/or a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). “Students will learn how to think about and practice counseling and therapy from an explicitly Christian perspective,” the website reports. Practicum requirements can be completed in a student’s home community. The Best Colleges website also ranked LETU among the top 25 online colleges in the country and among the top 10 of Online Christian Colleges and Universities.
Dr. Philip Coyle, LETU provost and executive vice president who is also an LPC and LMFT, is a strong advocate of programs designed to build healthy marriages and families.
“As a Christian university, LETU is committed to developing degree programs that make a positive difference in the lives of people,” Coyle said. “This Master of Arts in Counseling program specifically is one that can touch and renew the lives of many and fits with our vision that our graduates will see their life’s work as a holy calling in every workplace and in every nation.”
Jeremy Alder, managing editor of The Best Colleges, wrote, “I want to personally congratulate you for raising the profile of online education and providing students with a truly excellent distance learning opportunity.”
