LeTourneau University was the host site for the 40th annual conference of the International Association of Missionary Aviation this week. The conference attracted about 75 IAMA members to LETU's Paul and Betty Abbott Aviation Center for three days of discussions and presentations on topics of interest, including missionaries involved in disaster recovery, safety management issues and technology changes affecting mission aviation. The group also toured LETU’s Abbott Center, the LETU main campus and R.G. LeTourneau Museum and the East Texas Oil Museum at Kilgore College.
IAMA is a nonprofit organization with more than 50 flight schools and missionary organizations that aspire to use their God-given resources to share the love of Christ to the world through mission aviation. It encourages members in mission aviation by providing networking, mission preparations and assistance with missionary fundraising.
