LETU to Host Multi-Family Garage Sale Saturday, May 22
Fri, May 21 2010
LeTourneau University will host a multi-family garage sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May
22, at the old Skipper Dining Hall sidewalk and parking lot near the center of campus to raise
funds for scholarship programs and give students a way to sell items they no longer need.
Various LETU departments will sell extra furniture like bookcases, desks, chairs, filing
cabinets, office accessories, while university resident directors and students living in the
married student housing complexes sell men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, toys, furniture, and
other household items. Proceeds from the university-owned items will be used for
scholarships.
“We hope it will be a benefit to the students who have items they need to sell, a benefit to
the public to pick up bargains, and a benefit to the university to clean out storage space and add
to student scholarship funds,” said Christian A. Lehman, resident director and university
sustainability coordinator. “This is the first time we have attempted a garage sale
like this, but if it is successful, it could become an annual event.”
The LETU campus is located at 2100 South Mobberly Ave. in Longview. The sale will take place
inside the old Skipper Dining Hall building in case of inclement weather.
