LeTourneau University has named Scott Fossey as the new senior director of development, responsible for managing the university’s fundraising staff and reporting to the vice president for development. In recent years, Fossey has served as president and chief development officer in private education and continued as morning weatherman in the television news industry at Tyler CBS affiliate, KYTX-TV.
“Scott Fossey is one of the most familiar faces in East Texas,” said LETU President Dr. Dale A. Lunsford. “I have had the pleasure of working with both Scott and Leslie in the past and look forward to the years ahead. LeTourneau University is one of the most significant Christian universities in the nation and Scott will be effective at sharing our vision with others."
Fossey comes to LETU with more than 18 years of combined senior management and communications experience. Originally from near Wichita, Kan., Fossey graduated from Harding University in Arkansas with a bachelor’s degree in communications and has recently completed his MBA degree from LETU.
Fossey spent more than a decade in television news working for television stations from Little Rock, Ark., to Terre Haute, Ind., to Tyler, Texas. For the past 10 years, while continuing his work in the media, Fossey has also worked and been promoted to positions of increasing executive leadership responsibility in the healthcare and educational sectors, along with serving with his wife and children in a part-time pastoral role. He has worked with community leaders, non-profit boards and healthcare executives in the East Texas area to raise more than $10 million for nonprofit healthcare and academic entities.
Fossey’s pride and joy is his family. He has a daughter, Erica, and a son, Devon. His wife, Leslie, is the director of marketing for Azalea Orthopedics in Tyler. Together, they enjoy the East Texas community they have called home since 1992.
“We are excited and humbled to be a part of the LeTourneau University family and to share in the university’s mission to equip students to impact every workplace in every nation for Christ,” Fossey said. We look forward to forming new relationships throughout East Texas and around the country as we meet those who have also been touched by LETU and are looking for a way to give back to the university through a number of opportunities.”
