KERRVILLE, Texas - Leslie Lee and Candice Nishimura carded personal bests and finished in the top four as the LeTourneau women's golf team claimed fourth place Tuesday at the Schreiner Women's Fall Classic.
Lee (Longview, Texas/Spring Hill) fired a personal-best two-day total of 14-over-par-155 to take second place, one stroke behind winner Kelly Gonyea of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Lee carded rounds of 79 and 76, the first time in her career the senior has recorded two sub-80 rounds at an event.
Nishimura (San Mateo, Calif./Aragon) also set a two-day personal best, carding rounds of 83 and 76 to finish with a score of 159, good for fourth place in the individual standings.
As a team, the YellowJackets shot 687, four strokes behind third-place McMurry. Mary Hardin-Baylor, paced by individual winner Gonyea and three top eight finishes, won the event with a score of 648. Host Schreiner finished second with a combined score of 658.
LeTourneau freshman Ashley Woodley (Hallsville, Texas/Hallsville) recorded a two-day total of 184. Senior Elizabeth Zapata (Longview, Texas/Spring Hill) shot a 189 over the two-day event.
The Schreiner Classic was the final fall event for the YellowJackets, who will resume play in spring.
