LeTourneau University has again ranked in the top tier nationally in U.S. News and World Report’s rankings of “America’s Best Colleges.”

LeTourneau University is ranked 6th among Texas schools in the region and 32nd among Best Universities — Master’s in the Western Region in the 2010 U.S. News rankings.

For 16 years, the university has been listed in the magazine’s top rankings, the last eight years among larger, more comprehensive colleges. U.S. News ranks colleges and universities among other schools with similar programs and degree offerings.

“This is great news to announce on the same day we welcome more than 400 new students to campus,” said LETU President Dr. Dale A. Lunsford. “This recognition is one of many that LETU has received.”

Recently, LETU was awarded the Loening Trophy for having the top collegiate aviation program in the nation. This year will mark the largest aviation enrollment in the school’s history, as it opens its new Abbott Aviation Center at East Texas Regional Airport.

Indicators used to determine the rankings include small class sizes, high SAT and ACT scores of incoming freshmen, the student-to-faculty ratio, average graduation rates and assessments by administrators at other peer universities.
