LETU Plans for Hurricane Ike

Due to impending inclement weather conditions from Hurricane Ike, LeTourneau University has been working to ensure the safety of all students, faculty and staff since the storm is projected to travel across the area. LETU is closely monitoring the progress of the storm and advisories issued by the National Weather Service.
Events on LeTourneau University’s Longview campus that are being canceled or postponed include:
The administration of the ACT for high school students that was planned for Saturday, Sept. 13, at LeTourneau University has been postponed until Saturday, Sept. 20. Registered examinees will receive official notification from ACT. This announcement is only for those examinees registered at LeTourneau University.
Also the Courtroom Intelligence training for court reports has been postponed until Saturday, Sept. 20.
Saturday’s women’s soccer game against Central Baptist has been canceled. The game will not be rescheduled for this season but will be placed on the 2009 slate. LeTourneau returns home Tuesday September 16th to host Millsaps College in a double-header beginning at 5 p.m.
No other cancellations have been reported but will be communicated to local media outlets as they occur. They will also be posted on the LETU Web site.
In case of emergency on the Longview campus, faculty, staff, and students should take shelter in the first floor of the Memorial Student Center, the Solheim Arena or in interior hallways of dormitories. Students have been informed about the potential of Hurricane Ike, and can track its progress on weather.com for the most up-to-date information . LeTourneau Security may be contacted at 903.233.4444. Staff are on site and available to students in the event of damage to any buildings.
