LETU Multi-Cultural Group To Host Children's Carnival
Thu, Dec 4 2008
LeTourneau University’s 2 C.A.R.E. Council will host a children’s carnival from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 6, in the university’s Belcher Gymnasium in the Solheim Recreation and Activity Center, 2100 S. Mobberly Ave. The event is free and open to the public. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
The carnival will be held in conjunction with the LETU Women’s and Men’s YellowJacket basketball games, to be played at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. respectively. Both teams will compete against Concordia University Texas.
Carnival attendees can enjoy free games and door prizes, as well as cotton candy, popcorn, candy and drinks. Activities will feature games including musical chairs, fishing, bowling, a bean bag toss, soccer and pin the tail on the donkey. Children may also participate in a story time and enjoy an inflatable “Jupiter jump.”
The 2 C.A.R.E. Council is a student organization that promotes the value of cultural awareness both on and off campus, as members embrace diversity and seek to build a bridge with the community. This is the second year for 2 C.A.R.E. to host the carnival. Over 300 local families attended last year’s event.
“This is another excellent opportunity to reach out and impact the lives of the community,” said LETU junior and 2 C.A.R.E. member Marcita Bowie.
