Dr Austin to give Founders Day Address

LETU Chancellor and former President Dr. Alvin O. Austin

Mon, Nov 24 2008

LeTourneau University will host the university’s chancellor and former past president Dr. Alvin O. Austin for Founder’s Day to celebrate the birthday of the university’s founder, R.G. LeTourneau. The event will be from 10:25 to 11:05 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 1, in the S.E. Belcher Jr. Chapel and Performance Center at 2100 S. Mobberly Ave.
Founder’s Day was created about 20 plus years ago as a way to try to create some additional traditions at the university and to remember its heritage. Austin’s presentation is titled “What’s In a Name?” and will refer to verses from Proverbs 22:1 regarding the values of one’s name. Austin will also give an overview of some names that are now displayed around the LeTourneau University campus on the buildings and streets, and will try to relate the qualities of that person to the strengths and qualities of what we know at LeTourneau today.
