Thu, Apr 10 2008

Enrollment has now begun for LeTourneau University Summer Camps. The week-long academic and athletic camps begin June 2 and run through July 25 for students entering grades K-12. These camps are designed to help students enjoy hands-on learning opportunities throughout the summer.

“LeTourneau University is known for offering excellent academic and athletic camps in a Christian environment,” said David Shankle, director of special programs. “This year’s camp theme, ‘ Shine,’ comes from Psalm 4:6 where God’s people ask for His face to shine upon them.” A course catalog is available by calling LeTourneau University’s Office of Special Programs at (903) 233-4090 or can be downloaded online at www.letu.edu/camps.

“This year, we have added a number of new camps, largely due to the creativity of Emily Walton, our special programs assistant,” Shankle said. New camps include: “H2O Mania,” “Young Adventurers,” “Focus: Photography Camp,” “Hola Amigos!”, “Future Doctors I and II,” “CSI: Longview,” “Reading Rocks!” and “Ravin’ Beauties.”

The continued growth of LEGO® Robotics camps will be guided this year by Janice Park, a teacher from New Diana Junior High School. Lance Homeniuk is back this year offering his wildly popular “ Medieval Times,” “Rocket Summer,” “Insane Science,” “Kid’s Architecture” and “Junior Engineers.”& amp; lt; /p>

LeTourneau University Athletic Camps also draw great interest from local students who want to increase their abilities in baseball, softball, boys’ and girls’ basketball, and boys’ and girls’ soccer.
