LETOURNEAU SPIN TRAINING

As a flight instructor it is important to always be prepared! And that means knowing how to recover from a spin. Spins are a lot of fun, but can be dangerous if they are encountered at the wrong time. Spin entry and recovery techniques are all discussed in detail during spin training, which is required to become a flight instructor (CFI). At LETU we do spin training in one of our ACA Citabrias, a high-wing, conventional gear aircraft that easily enters and recovers from spins. In this video you are watching the last spin that I did during my spin training with Lauren Bitikofer. We began the spin at 8000 feet and recovered at 5000 feet. In 30 seconds we did 14 turns and descended at a rate of 6000 feet per minute! Note that in this spin we allow it to continue for a long time, but if this were encountered unexpectedly we would recover as quickly as possible.
