LEGS VISUAL LITERACY TRAINING
IN SENEGAL & KENYA, AFRICA

College is an adventure. For me it’s a say-hello-in-Swahili, eat-lunch-with-giraffes, chase-the-wildebeests, wrap-yourself-in-a-handmade-just-for-you-Senegalese-dress kind of thing. My latest adventure involved interviewing native people in Senegal and Kenya as part of a groundbreaking study to learn the ways that culture influences visual literacy and how different cultures learn — all right after my freshman year. I went as part of the LeTourneau University LEGS (LeTourneau Empowering Global Solutions) program, and let’s just say this kind of education is beyond once in a lifetime. It’s all about getting your hands dirty to make a real difference.
