Lauren Gentry begins her second season as the head women's golf coach at LeTourneau.
Gentry, a former Academic All-American at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, comes to the LeTourneau family as a recommendation of the former LETU men’s golf coach, Dr. Andy Woodring, who had served as both the men’s and women’s coach for the last nine years.
Gentry, a Breckenridge, Texas native, played on the state championship 3A women’s golf team at Breckenridge High School and finished in sixth place individually. While at UMHB, she was a three-time all-American Southwest Conference honoree and played on four conference championship teams. Her UMHB team finished as the NCAA Division III Runner-Ups, three times and finished in fourth place, once during her career.
Gentry graduated from UMHB with a degree in sociology and a minor in business administration in 2004. After graduation, she began work as the Assistant Director of Recruiting at UMHB and served in that capacity until accepting the LeTourneau position.
When asked about taking over as the women’s golf program Gentry said, “ It has been a dream of mine to coach and work with young women. I ran into Andy (Woodring) a few years back and he mentioned that LeTourneau might be looking for a women’s golf coach to ease his burden.”
