Women’s cross country places eighth at ASC Championships
CLINTON, Miss. – The LeTourneau University women’s cross country team finished
eighth in the American Southwest Conference Championships Saturday at the Choctaw Trails.
The YellowJackets finished with 239 points, placing eighth on the waterlogged course, which
resulted in much slower times.
UT-Tyler, which had 40 points, won its first-ever women’s American Southwest Conference Cross
Country Championship, while McMurry’s Carla Lewis took individual honors by placing first in the
meet.
McMurry (49) was second, followed by Mississippi College (57), Texas Lutheran (87),
Hardin-Simmons (117), East Texas Baptist (203) and UT-Dallas (237). Louisiana College (243) and
Ozarks (253) rounded out the field.
Abby Johnson was the first LeTourneau runner to place in the 6K run, taking 49
th in 30:44.Mandy Vandoren was 55
th in 31:45, while Karis VanSyckel (34:33) and Ellie Garrison (34:34) were 66
th and 67
