SCHEDULE:

Office hours are primarily weekdays, but responsibilities require additional hours and flexibility that can include evenings and weekends. In addition, considerable overnight travel may be required. Must be available to work flex time or remotely as needed.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

For the School of Graduate and Professional Studies and working with the Senior Academic Specialist, this position is responsible for performing responsible work in the academic and financial advising of students on LETU programs and services and for working with students in an effort to help individuals select, outline and achieve educational and developmental goals. In addition, to follow other related policies, procedures, and processes in order to achieve strategic objectives and benchmarks.
 
  1. Provide academic advising, financial advising, and counsel to prospective and current students throughout the entire enrollment cycle
  2. Helps students with adjustment to college life
  3. Participate in new student orientation and student retention initiatives
  4. Conduct program orientations for graduate and undergraduate of students
  5. Managing the processes for all students with class/course schedule changes as well as with students returning to LeTourneau University after having been out of the program
  6. Participate in new faculty orientation as needed
  7. Work directly with students through email, telephone calls, and onsite visits regarding questions about academic and/or financial aid related issues
  8. Makes independent business decisions critical to the well being of the student and university including registering for classes, forming cohort groups, academic and financial counseling, degree completion scheduling, withdrawal of students, etc
  9. Use discretion and independent judgment to resolve student, stakeholder, and other critical issues as it relates to academic and financial enrollment management functions
  10. Meet or exceed established performance metrics
  11. Other duties as assigned
 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree is preferred
  • Must possess the following skills: interpersonal, organizational, time management, creative problem solving, computer, telephone, and attention to detail
  • Must be a self starter that requires minimal supervision, be able to maintain confidentiality, and be a good written and oral communicator
  • Must also be able to interact effectively with persons of all educational and business position levels
