SCHEDULE:

Scheduled hours of instruction would be between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Dallas Education Center. Instructors will teach one (1) to four (4) English as a Second Language courses each term.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

LeTourneau University is seeking part-time ESL (English as a Second Language) instructors to teach in its new Intensive English Program (IEP) starting the spring term of 2012. Students in the program will be international, with a goal of pursuing postsecondary academic work at LeTourneau University.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Successful candidates will have a Bachelor's, or Master’s degree (preferred) in TESL or a related field; familiarity with ESL teaching strategies and methods; experience teaching in a higher education setting (preferred); a high level of English proficiency; ability to work as part of a team; and a commitment to Christian Higher Education.
 
Specific qualifications and responsibilities will include:
Classroom Instruction
·         Five to twenty (5-20) clock hours weekly in classroom instruction duties
·         Demonstrated excellence in teaching a variety of ESL courses, levels and skills with the ability/willingness to teach all course periods and course levels
Office/Program Duties
·         Five to ten (5-10) clock hours in other office and program responsibilities based on number of clock hours of weekly classroom instruction
·         Maintain office and tutorial hours to advise and assist students
·         Participate in the development and implementation of new IEP curriculum
·         Participate in placement testing and other grading and assessment duties
·         Participate in student orientation sessions
·         Contribute initiatives to develop new programs and improve the IEP
