Q: 지원마감일은 언제인가요?

A: 현재까진 정해진 지원마감일은 없습니다만, 빨리 지원하실수록 결과결과가 더 빨리 나옵니다. 가을학기를 위한 지원서는 8월달까지 접수받으며, 다음해의 가을학기 지원서는 오는 10월달부터 접수받습니다.

Q: 이전대학에서 수료한 학점도 인정받을수 있나요?

A: 네, 인정받으실 수 있습니다. 수료한 과목들의 성적증명서를 꼭 첨부하여주세요. 수료한곳이 미국외라면 Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) 을 통해 먼저 검증받아야 합니다. ECE의 검증 평가에 따라 수료 인정여부를 결정하게 됩니다.

Q: 학비는 얼마나 되나요?

A: 2011 - 2012 기준 학비 & 기숙사비 총합은 $32,800 입니다. 다음 비용은 별도입니다 (예상금액): 교과서 & 필기구 ($1,420), 교통 ($1,240), 개인지출비용 ($1,150).

Q: 국제학생들에게도 장학금 혜택이 주어지나요?

A: 네. LeTourneau University에서는 국제학생들도 장학금 혜택을 누릴 수 있습니다. 학교 성적증명서를 보냈다면, 학교성적 또는 공인 시험성적에 따라 총장, 학부장, 명예장학금을 얻을 수 있습니다. 이들 장학생들에겐 매년 $2,000 에서 $11,000정도의 장학금이 주어집니다.

Housing 


Q: LeTourneau University엔 기숙사가 있나요?

A: 네, LeTourneau University (이하 LETU)는 기숙사 생활을 지원합니다. 남학생의 경우엔 Tyler Hall, Pennsylvania & Mabee Halls, The Quad, Davis Hall, Thomas Hall, 그리고 Village Apartments 중에 선택할 수 있고, 여학생들에겐 ELH, Gilbert Hall, Village Apartments, and Davis Hall 기숙사가 주어집니다. 결혼한 학생들을 위한 Married Student housings도 준비되어 있습니다.

Orientation 


Q: 학교에 언제쯤 도착해야 하나요?

A: 매년 개강 전 국제학생들을 위한 OT가 열립니다. 이 OT는 주로 개강 1주 전에 열리고, 이 국제학생 OT후에 모든학생들을 위한 OT가 열립니다. 올해 국제학생OT는 8월14일날 시작하니, 14일 전후로 학교에 도착하시면 됩니다.  

Q: LETU에는 어떤 방법으로 가야 하나요? 

A: LETU가 위치한 Longview에는 East Texas Regional Airport라는 조그만 공항이 있습니다. 이곳에 도착하시거나 Amtrak기차로 Longview역에 내리신다면 학교에서 교통편을 마련해 줍니다. ,

Q: OT는 꼭 참가해야 하나요?

A: 네, 모든 국제학생들은 OT에 꼭 참가하셔야 합니다. OT에 오실때 꼭 여권과 I-20비자를 가져오시기 바랍니다.

Requirements


Q: 영어능력시험 성적이 있어야 하나요?

A: 네, LETU에 입학하는 모든 영어권 외 나라 학생들(영국, 호주, 뉴질랜드, 캐나다, 서인도제도 시민권자 제외)은 TOEFL, 또는 IELTS등의 시험을 통해 영어능력을 인정받아야 합니다.

  • TOEFL
    • 80 on the Internet-based version (iBT)
    • 197 on the computer-based version
    • 525 on the paper-based version  
  • IELTS
    • 6.0 on each band

*위 조건에 부합하지 못하는 학생들중 IBT 60점 이상이나 IELTS 4.5 이상의 성적을 거둔학생들은 조건부로 입학하실수 있습니다.

Q: LETU는 어디에 위치해 있나요?

Q: Longview에는 쇼핑할만한 곳으로 어떤곳이 있나요?

A: Longview에는 롱뷰 백화점, 롱뷰 다운타운, 월마트, 타겟 등이 길어야 20분내 거리에 자리잡고 있습니다.

Q: Longview 날씨는 어떤가요?

A: Longview시는 연중 내내 70%습도를 유지하는등 상당히 습하고, 한여름엔 38도 이상까지 올라가며 매우 덥습니다. 겨울에도 영상 1, 2도까지 내려가니 한국에서의 날씨처럼 여름날씨와 겨울날씨 모두를 생각하시면 됩니다.

Admissions


Q: Is there a deadline for submitting my application? 

A: Yes and no. We do not have a specific date prior to the beginning of each semester by which you must submit your application but the earlier the better. Applications for fall 2011 will be accepted through August 2011.  Applications for fall 2012 will be reviewed beginning September 2011.

Q: What is the admission process?

A: All international students applying for the undergraduate program must submit the following documents to be considered for admission:

Q: Will I get credit for classes I have taken at another university? 

A: Yes, transfer credits can be obtained at LeTourneau. Please submit transcripts of all university work completed inside and outside the United States. If you have taken classes at a university outside the U.S., please submit your transcript to Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) to have your transcript reviewed and sent to LeTourneau University. Transfer credit may be granted based on ECE's course equivalency determinations.

Q: How much does the program cost?

A: The tuition & fees for 2011-2012 are $32,800. This total cost does not include the following (estimated annual costs in parentheses): Books & Supplies ($1,420), Transportation ($1,240) and Personal Expenses ($1,150).

Financial Aid


Q: Are there scholarships for international students?

A: Yes, LeTourneau University offers merit-based scholarships to international students. After you submit all the transcripts, you may be eligible for a scholarship based on your high school or university level grades and test scores.The Presidential, Dean's and Honor's Scholarships are all merit-based. Scholarships are worth between $2,000 and $11,000 per year.

Housing 


Q: Does LeTourneau University have student housing?

A: Yes, LETU provides residence halls with several options students can choose from. For men, Tyler Hall, Pennsylvania & Mabee Halls, The Quad, Davis Hall, Thomas Hall, and Village Apartments are provided to meet the needs of the students. For women, ELH, Gilbert Hall, Village Apartments, and Davis Hall are the living options. Married Student housings are provided for married students.

Orientation 


Q: When should I arrive at LETU?

A: Every year, LeTourneau University offers an International Student Orientation for all international students and students who have grown up overseas as missionaries. This typically begins one week before classes start and is followed by the orientation for all incoming students.  International Student Orientation begins on August 14 this year.  Please arrive at some point around the 14th in order to fully participate in the activities.

Q: How can I get to LETU? 

A: If you are on an airplane, you should plan on flying to East Texas Regional Airport, in Longview, Texas. Flights to East Texas Regional Airport are available from Dallas, Texas. LETU arranges for student pickup at East Texas Regional Airport the Sunday or Monday before the first day of International Student Orientation. Longview is also served by Amtrak's Longview Depot and Amtrak's Texas Eagle, which departs from Dallas, Texas. LETU also arranges for student pickup at Amtrak station in Longview. 

Q: Is orientation mandatory for new international students?

A: Yes, the international student orientation, advising, and registration days are required for all newly admitted LETU international students. You must bring your passport and I-20 to orientation sessions and present them to the Office of International Studies.

Requirements


Q: Do I need to show proof of English proficiency?

A: Yes, you must show proof of English proficiency through the TOEFL or IELTS tests unless you are a native speaker of English and a citizen of Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, or the British West Indies.

English proficiency may be demonstrated in any of the following ways:

  • TOEFL
    • 80 on the Internet-based version (iBT)
    • 197 on the computer-based version
    • 525 on the paper-based version  
  • IELTS
    • 6.0 on each band

*Conditional admission may be granted for students who have obtained a 60 or better on the TOEFL iBT or a 4.5 on each band of the IELTS. 

LeTourneau University offers an ESL program for conditional admission for students already at an intermediate or advanced proficiency level in English.  *Please note that there is not a beginner level in the ESL program.*  Students may enroll in 12 hours per semester at either the intermediate or advanced level.   Students must enter the program with a working knowledge of English due to the fact that these classes are designed to prepare students for academic performance and degree completion at LeTourneau University.  More information about ESL courses can be found here.

Q: Where is LeTourneau located?

A: Our 162-acre campus is located in Longview, Texas, which is located two hours east of Dallas and one hour west of Shreveport, Louisiana. To learn more about Longview, click here.

Q: Are there places for shopping in Longview?

A: Yes, there are places like the Longview Mall, Longview Main Street, and Walmart, all within 15~20 minutes drive.

Q: What is the weather like in Longview?

A: The Longview region is humid (70%) all year. In the summer, the temperature reaches to about 95°F (35°C), . In the winter, the temperature drops down to about 34°F (1°C). So please bring both summer clothes and a couple of winter jackets.

Q: Can I work as a student? 

A: Yes, a number of on-campus jobs are available to LeTourneau students who are qualified and successfully apply for such positions. Note that for international students with F-1 visas, employment is limited to campus jobs only.
