The
Nickel Alloy Research project is using parametric optimization to explore ways to improve the
weldability of Nickel Alloys prone to ductility dip cracking. Using the automated,
computer-controlled TIG welder from ARC specialties, we are exploring how to improve this drawback
through its concentration on specific parameters. By focusing specifically on the process controls,
greater insight can be drawn into the specific conditions that help to cause ductility
dip cracking.
