Admission Requirements

This degree is only offered as an accelerated program in an online format.

Applicants for the Master of Arts in Psychology must meet the following requirements for admission:

  • Submit a completed application
  • Submit official transcripts of all undergraduate work and any graduate work, attempted or completed
  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.80 (on a 4.00 scale).
  • Using the forms provided, have two references submitted on your behalf:
  • Complete the required writing sample, to be submitted with your application by answering as follows. In 2-3 pages, describe the following in reference to the career you are pursuing (psychology/counseling/marriage & family therapy):
    • The leading events in your life which impacted your decision to pursue a career in psychology/counseling/marriage & family therapy.
    • How your Christian faith has informed your decision to pursue a career in psychology/counseling/marriage & family therapy.
    • Your professional aspirations and how you hope to apply your training in psychology/counseling/marriage & family therapy.
  • Submit a résumé that includes relevant, full-time work experience to be considered by the Admissions Committee.
  • Once all transcripts, references, writing sample, and résumé have been received, applicants will be contacted to schedule a Skype interview with the Faculty Director of the Counseling program and at least one other member of the graduate admissions committee. Interviews will last approximately 15-20 minutes. Both day and evening times will be available to accommodate applicants.
  • Applicants must be supportive of the Christian mission of LeTourneau University through the integration of the Christian faith with learning and must sign a Behavioral Expectations Agreement, which ensures their understanding and acceptance of the behaviors that are expected of them as students of LeTourneau. Note: No prerequisites are needed for the required courses in the M.A. in Psychology program.

Students may transfer a maximum of 12 approved graduate credit hours toward the M.A. in Psychology from another regionally accredited institution.

Applicants to graduate programs who do not meet the GPA requirements for entrance may be considered and admitted with probationary status.
