Spring Break Trips

Ever wanted to visit the Middle East? Immerse yourself in Israel? Visit the ancient city of Constantinople? Then a spring break academic trip is for you! The Department of Biblical Studies and the Department of History & Political Science take the lead on these trips and provide the academic opportunity of a lifetime! The Honors Program also joins the trip every other year.

FUTURE TRIPS (subject to change):

  • 2014 Turkey
  • 2015 Israel

Students are expected to do preliminary reading, on-site presentations, and submit post-trip assignments. The goal is to enrich your educational experience by combining foreign travel with on-site study. The pace is fast, but you will have awesome guides in addition to LETU faculty. Bring your walking shoes!

Examples of Courses:

BIBL 4413 Physical Settings of the Bible. This course is offered each spring as a Bible elective. Depending on the region visited the course may emphasize Old and New Testament sites in Israel or the early churches in Greece and Turkey. Scholarship money is available for early registrants of this course.

HNRS 3113. The Arab-Israeli Conflict. This is an honors class offered in Israel. The focus is on understanding the historic background and contemporary conflicts between Arabs and Jews. It is an interdisciplinary course and may count for a history, political science, or cross-culture elective.

Summer Trips

If you want to experience biblical or church history while getting course credit, you may enjoy one of our study trips. Each year, students can sign up to spend their spring break or the first weeks of summer in Israel, Greece, Turkey, Italy, Egypt, Jordan, Russia or other spots known for Biblical and church history. Students can also spend a semester abroad in Jerusalem, and many spend their spring breaks or summers on missions trips throughout the country and world.
