Glaske Shots 2 014Engineering Technology is that part of the technological field that requires the application of scientific knowledge, engineering knowledge, and methods, combined with the technical skills to achieve analysis and design objectives. 

LeTourneau’s engineering technology program offers practical application, coupled with a strong theoretical base. The program prepares students for positions in industry, sales, management, and service in a variety of technical areas.

  • Our Engineering Technology degree is similar to our Engineering degree, but emphasizes more application of theory and less development of theory than Engineering. As a result, Engineering Technology students spend less time on mathematical derivations and more time on application of existing theory.
  • Students spend a considerable time in a laboratory environment being taught by faculty with industrial experience.
  • LeTourneau University is the only member of the  Council for Christian Colleges and Universities with a B.S. Engineering Technology degree accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org.

Mission Statement and Objectives

The Engineering Technology Program of LeTourneau University will produce graduates that are able to integrate technical knowledge with practical application.  These qualities in our graduates will allow them to be effective engineering team members in an ever-changing technological environment. This will be accomplished within an interdisciplinary framework and with a sense of Christian vocation and commitment to serving God in society.

The objectives of the engineering technology program are that graduates will:

  • Effectively complete technical designs and other applications employing both technical and practical knowledge.
  • Be characterized by their interdisciplinary technical strengths.
  • Exhibit effective teamwork and communication skills in the work place.
  • Be characterized by a high level of technical leadership skills.
  • Adapt to changing industry and technology advancements and also be committed to continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrate ethical behavior with a sense of Christian purpose in the workplace.
  • Be successfully employed in their field of study.
