History Education

This degree is offered on ground in a daytime, Longview campus format.

If your goal is to teach junior high or high school, you’ll work closely with a professor with a long history of doing just that. LETU education and history faculty can provide advice based upon real-world experience.

Alongside in-depth history courses, you will take education courses designed to prepare you for any difficulties you'll face in a real-world classroom. From your first year, you'll also spend time in classrooms alongside veteran teachers who will show you firsthand the ins and outs of classroom management.

Students will meet regularly with our faculty in preparation for the ExCET/TExES exams for Texas teacher certification in history or for social studies composite certification, which includes history, government, geography and economics.

Interesting Classes You'll take

  • Modern Global History
  • Instructional Methods for Grades 8th-12th
