Teacher Education

The Department of Literature and Language Arts works closely with the Department of Teacher Education to prepare students for a career in teaching through excellent instruction from LeTourneau professors and hands-on classroom participation with children of each student's chosen age group.

The right mix of traditional English courses, coupled with our exceptional Education courses, ensures that when you graduate with a degree in English Education, you will not only be an excellent teacher, but knowledgeable and proficient in the field of English as well.

Students who plan to teach English may choose between the following specializations:

• Early Childhood through 6th Grade Generalist
  Usually a self-contained classroom with approximately 40 percent of instruction in language arts
• 4th — 8th Grade
  Specialization in a Language Arts/Social Studies Combination
• Secondary (8th — 12th Grade)
  Specialization in a teaching field such as English/Language Arts

A program of study in English Education will prepare you to be a dedicated, caring teacher who will impact young people in the United States or other parts of the world.
